My thoughts and opinions on AI

Everybody in this age has heard of AI, if you haven’t, stop lying. Everybody has an opinion on it, good or bad, and I’m here to give my opinions on AI.

The Use of AI

A lot of people use AI and almost every time its used, it’s used very stupidly. The entire reason that I’m writing this post to begin with is because my swim team used it to make merch that would have otherwise taken maybe 30 minutes.

Basically, everybody is building hype around the AI scene lately as it’s become a lot more usable and knowledgable in the past few years, before then we had AI that could barely draw a hexagon. Now AI isn’t something new, it’s been under the works for atleast 18 years (those who remember the PS3 supercomputer)

Anyway, people are hyping it up because it’s very efficient and useful to humans, and it’s also just very interesting to play around and test with. People are also becoming good at milking content from it (shoutout to the guys giving GPT punishments on TikTok)

Some of My Thoughts

First off, it’s pretty awesome! Having something to do my homework for me is pretty awesome, just means I have more time to allocate to whatever else I want to do (typically gaming).

But it also PAINS me to see people just using AI for whatever and just entirely relying on it. For example, something that made me upset recently was the Hackatime tracker displaying that all of my coding done prior to when I had the plugin installed was done by Copilot.

Now, yes, I do use AI to help me program, but that’s only with bug fixing and testing my programs, not making my entire program for me (like some other people).

It also hurts to see when people use it for the stupidest things such as making merchandise. My swim team made a very poorly, AI-generated, merch release where the logo wasn’t AI, it was literally just the text thrown on it. The text, not the design, the text.

This literally would have taken 30 minutes (including the time it takes to learn paint.net) to create the same thing in paint.net and maybe even Photoshop or something like that. It’s just a low-effort thing, and I know some of you are like “why does something so simple bother you so much to the point where you’re ranting about it,” and my response to that is, well, I really don’t know. It’s kinda just one of those things that trigger me.

How to Use AI Well

There are also a lot of right ways to use AI properly such as helping you program and fix bugs, helping you summarize Google searches (call me crazy, I know, I think this feature is awesome), and also
